Harmanpreet Kaur Backs Kashvee Gautam to Shine for Team India

India women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur has expressed strong confidence in young all-rounder Kashvee Gautam, stating that she has the potential to make a significant impact in the upcoming T20I series against South Africa. The five-match series is being seen as a crucial preparation phase ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 scheduled in June. Harmanpreet described Kashvee as a “talented” player who can contribute with both bat and ball, along with being an excellent fielder. Her inclusion comes at a time when Amanjot Kaur is sidelined due to injury. Considering the pace-friendly conditions in South Africa, the Indian team has opted for a pace-heavy bowling attack. Kashvee’s recent performances have been impressive. Representing Gujarat Giants in the Women’s Premier League, she has consistently delivered with the ball and contributed useful runs with the bat, putting herself in contention for a T20I debut. Speaking about team combinations, Harmanpreet clarified that the changes have been made purely based on conditions and balance. She highlighted that the spin department is already strong with players like Shreyanka Patil and Deepti Sharma performing consistently, which made it important to strengthen the pace attack. The captain also emphasized giving opportunities to young players, stating that such exposure before the World Cup is essential for building a well-prepared squad. Performing well against a strong side like South Africa will boost the team’s confidence. Harmanpreet acknowledged South Africa as a balanced and competitive side, making the series a valuable test for India. The team’s objective is not only to win the series but also to ensure every player is match-ready ahead of the World Cup.

Punjab’s Krish Bhagat Joins Mumbai Indians as Replacement Player, Minister Mohinder Bhagat’s Nephew Gets Opportunity

Mumbai Indians have brought in Punjab all-rounder Krish Bhagat as a replacement for injured player Atharva Ankolekar. The 21-year-old from Punjab has joined the franchise at his base price of ₹30 lakh. Bhagat is primarily a right-arm fast bowler but has also contributed useful runs in the lower order. Interestingly, Krish Bhagat is the nephew of Jalandhar MLA and Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat. He has represented Punjab in seven first-class matches and nine List A games, where he has also scored a half-century, highlighting his ability with the bat. Bhagat is not new to the Mumbai Indians setup. He has been part of the franchise’s trials over the past two years and featured for the Reliance team in this year’s DY Patil T20 Cup. He also served as a support bowler in the Mumbai Indians pre-season camp, which made it easier for the franchise to include him as a replacement.

South Africa’s rising all-rounder Annerie Dercksen has identified Indian star batter Smriti Mandhana as one of the biggest challenges ahead of the upcoming five-match T20I series. Dercksen admitted that Mandhana has consistently scored heavily against South Africa, and keeping her quiet will be a key focus for the team. The series, set to begin in Durban, is being viewed as crucial preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Dercksen подчеркнула that India are a well-balanced side with multiple match-winners. Apart from Mandhana, players like Shafali Verma and Richa Ghosh add significant firepower to the batting lineup, making India a dangerous opponent in all phases of the game. She also acknowledged the strength and experience in India’s bowling attack, which adds to the challenge.
